Restoring Nature
Halnaker Hill Farm is a 330-acre downland farm within the South Downs National Park, creating a thriving and biodiverse ecosystem that prioritises wildlife, soil health and natural processes
A journey through time
Halnaker Hill Farm is a 330-acre downland farm which lies within the South Downs National Park. Over the past 40 years it has been intensively farmed with continuous wheat, this has led to devastating degradation of the soil quality and a dramatic loss of biodiversity.
A Vision for Nature Recovery
Our vision is to work with nature to see life thrive and maximise biodiversity, helping the farm reach its full potential. By restoring lost habitats such as rare species-rich calcareous wildflower meadows and regenerating soil health through methods such as mob grazing.

Woodland & hedgerows
6km of native hedgerow has been planted along with 7 hectares of native woodland that will connect two ancient woodlands, consisting of mostly deciduous broadleaf species.

Wildflower meadows
40 hectares of land will become new calcareous grassland and has been sown with a bespoke and biodiverse wildflower mix containing large quantities of rare and important species.

Dew Ponds
We have created three dew ponds which used to be a key feature of the Downland landscape providing a vital source of water for wildlife.
Biodiversity in Regenerative Agriculture
At Halnaker Hill Farm, we are committed to achieving Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) by restoring and enhancing natural habitats across the landscape.
Through regenerative agriculture and carefully designed conservation practices, we aim to create a thriving ecosystem that supports wildlife, improves soil health, and reconnects fragmented habitats.
Our efforts align with national goals for sustainable land use, ensuring that nature recovery is at the heart of everything we do.
